Invisalign Clear Aligners in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Ripon and Berlin

Invisalign® straightens teeth with a series of clear, custom-made aligners instead of brackets and wires. You wear each set most of the day, take them out to eat and brush, and move to the next set on your orthodontist’s schedule. Dr. Adam Veit is a Gold Invisalign Provider, treating patients at all four of our Wisconsin offices.

Most people who ask us about Invisalign have already decided they want straighter teeth. What they really want to know is whether they can get there without a mouth full of metal for the next year and a half. For a great many patients the answer is yes, and clear aligners have become one of the most common ways adults and teenagers in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Ripon and Berlin start treatment.

The part that gets less attention is who is planning the treatment. Aligners are a tool. The results come from the plan behind them, and the plan is only as good as the person writing it. Dr. Adam Veit is a board-certified orthodontist who completed the four-month Aligner Intensive Fellowship, an advanced training program devoted specifically to aligner treatment. That is the difference we would ask you to weigh.

How Should I Care for My Invisalign?

Learn the best ways to clean and care for your Invisalign aligners to keep them clear, fresh, and working effectively throughout your treatment.

How Invisalign Works

Treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth. From that scan, Dr. Veit maps out where each tooth needs to move and in what order, and a series of aligners is manufactured to that plan. Each set is slightly different from the last, so each one moves your teeth a small, controlled amount.

The aligners are made from a smooth, BPA-free plastic that will not irritate your cheeks and gums, and they are close to invisible in normal conversation. You take them out to eat, to brush and to floss, which is why aligner patients often find oral hygiene easier than braces patients do. There are no wires and no brackets to trap food.

You move to a new set on the schedule Dr. Veit gives you, often around every one to two weeks. Between sets you come in for a check every so often, usually about every six weeks, so we can confirm your teeth are tracking with the plan.

Most cases run about 12 to 18 months, though simple cases finish sooner and complex ones take longer. Dr. Veit will give you an honest estimate for your own case before you commit.

What Invisalign Can Treat

Clear aligners handle a wide range of cases: crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, overbites, underbites and crossbites. Teens and adults both do well with them, and Invisalign Teen exists specifically for growing patients.

They are not right for everybody, and any orthodontist who tells you otherwise is selling. Some bites need the continuous force and precise control that only fixed appliances give. Some patients know, honestly, that they will not keep a removable aligner in for twenty-two hours a day, and for them a fixed appliance such as LightForce® 3D-printed braces or traditional braces is simply the better answer. Part of Dr. Veit’s job is to tell you which group you are in.

Why Don't Some Dentists Recommend Invisalign?

This question comes up constantly, and it deserves a real answer rather than a defensive one.

There are three honest reasons a provider might steer you away from aligners. The first is clinical: some cases genuinely need fixed braces, particularly complex bite corrections and cases involving significant tooth rotation or vertical movement. The second is compliance: aligners only work while they are in your mouth, so a provider who doubts a particular patient will wear them may prefer an appliance that does not depend on cooperation. The third is scope: a provider recommends what they are trained and equipped to deliver well, and aligner treatment planning is a distinct skill.

That third reason is worth thinking about when you choose where to go. In our part of Wisconsin, a lot of clear aligner treatment is provided by general dentists alongside cleanings and fillings. There is nothing wrong with that in principle, and many do good work. But an orthodontist has completed a residency in tooth movement after dental school and does nothing else all day. When a case turns out to be harder than it looked at the scan, that is when the difference shows.

An Orthodontist With Advanced Aligner Training

Dr. Adam Veit is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, holds a DDS from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree from the Uniformed Services University, and completed the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program. He practiced in the United States, Japan and Italy, and served nine years as a Naval Officer before returning to the part of Wisconsin he grew up in.

For aligner patients specifically, the relevant credential is the four-month Aligner Intensive Fellowship Dr. Veit completed, which is dedicated training in planning and managing clear aligner cases. Dr. Veit is also a Gold Invisalign Provider. When you come to us for Invisalign, an orthodontist with that background is designing your treatment, and the same orthodontist is checking it at every visit.

Wearing Your Aligners

Wear time is the one variable you control, and it decides whether treatment finishes on schedule.

Plan on wearing your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, every day, taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth. You will hear people online talk about a “30 minute rule,” meaning aligners should not sit out of your mouth for more than about half an hour at a stretch. Treat that as a useful habit rather than an official policy. The number that actually matters is the daily total, and if you are hitting 20 to 22 hours you are doing it right.

A few habits make the difference: rinse your aligners whenever you take them out, brush and floss before putting them back in, brush the aligners gently with a soft toothbrush and water rather than toothpaste, which scratches the plastic and clouds it, and never soak them in mouthwash or denture cleaner. Keep them in their case, not in a napkin. Napkins get thrown away.

What Invisalign Costs in Wisconsin

Aligner treatment is priced much like braces for a comparable case, because the cost follows the complexity and length of treatment rather than the material. We quote your fee after Dr. Veit examines your teeth, and we go through monthly payment options, your insurance benefit and our published family discounts before treatment starts.

Find Out Whether Invisalign Suits You

The only way to know is to have an orthodontist look. Bring your questions, and Dr. Veit will tell you what your teeth need, whether aligners can deliver it, and what the alternative would be if they cannot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about Invisalign treatment? These answers will help you understand how it works and what to expect at each stage.

Supervision. With Invisalign at our practice, an orthodontist examines your teeth and jaw in person, takes records, plans the movements and checks your progress throughout treatment. Mail-order aligner services skip most of that. Tooth movement is a biological process with real risks when it goes wrong, and a photo taken at your kitchen table is not a clinical exam.

Often, yes. Invisalign Teen is designed for growing patients and includes features for erupting teeth. The honest question is not clinical but practical: will your teenager keep them in for 20 to 22 hours a day? Some will, some will not, and we would rather have that conversation with you at the start. See teen treatment.

Yes. Teeth move throughout life whatever moved them into place, so every treatment we finish ends with retainers and clear instructions on wearing them. Skipping retainers is the most common reason people need treatment twice.

Sometimes, depending on where your case has got to. Talk to Dr. Veit rather than assuming either way. If you started treatment elsewhere and want to transfer to us, we can usually help there too.
